Pró-labore, social contributions and Fator R

Owners’ work remuneration connects the owner’s income, company payroll and, for applicable activities, Fator R. It should be assessed together with profit distributions and the business records.

Distinguish work remuneration from profit

Pró-labore remunerates work by the owner. A profit distribution is a different transaction that needs accounting support and an assessment of the current tax rules, including the changes applicable from 2026. Treating every withdrawal as a distribution can obscure the actual facts.

Review contributions and personal tax

The owner’s social contribution, any employer contribution and withholding income tax have different bases, limits and conditions. The result must consider the company’s regime and activity; a contribution cap for the owner does not automatically cap the employer’s cost.

The 2026 calculator provides a preliminary estimate for its stated inputs. Other income, eligibility and the full payroll situation require a specific review.

Include Fator R without double counting

For activities subject to Fator R, supported payroll and owners’ remuneration participate in the relevant accumulated ratio. Increasing remuneration may reduce one company tax component while increasing contributions and personal tax. Compare the combined effect.

  • Identify which withdrawals remunerate work.
  • Keep payroll, payment records and declarations consistent.
  • Do not count the same owners’ remuneration twice.
  • Support distributions with accounting records and the applicable approvals.
